Donna Jean (Foss) Low, aged 86, passed away peacefully Dec. 24, 2017, in Newport, Wash.

Donna was born Feb. 13, 1931, one of three daughters of Clarence (Slim) and Grace (Naccarato) Foss.

Donna was lucky to call Priest River, Idaho, home; where she would spend her childhood, go to school, grow up, make many lifelong friends, and meet the love of her life, John (Gene) Low.

Donna and Gene married in 1948, starting their family soon after. Donna and Gene had three children, John Jr., Roxanne, and Maria. Sadly, Maria preceded her parents in death when she was only a few days old. Donna and Gene raised their family at their home on the river while Gene worked in the logging industry and Donna worked for many years at the local grocery store (IGA). The red house on the river became a favorite visiting spot for their friends, family, children, and grandchildren with many memories being made there.

To say Donna enjoyed Christmas would be an understatement. It was simply her favorite time of the year. She enjoyed gift giving, decorating, and spoiling her grandchildren. If you knew Donna, you cannot think of Christmas without thinking of her. She singlehandedly kept Hallmark’s Christmas ornament division in business for many, many years.

As much as Donna loved Christmas, she loved her family even more. onna doted on her grandchildren, making it to all their school functions and sporting events, and not even getting too angry when all but one eventually crashed her car. She leaves behind a generation who have learned generosity, unconditional love, and the joy of Christmas from her.

Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Grace Foss; her husband Gene Low; and her daughters Maria and Roxanne (Roxy) Low.

Donna is survived by her son John (Lorna) Low; sisters Bernita Quinn and Karen (Bill) Crickman; grandchildren Tony Low, Shannon (Jim) Hoss, Brooke Ramsey, and Ryan (Rebecca) Low; eleven great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Donna’s life will be held and announced at a later date. Memorial donations in Donna’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (ALZ.org), West Bonner County Library, or a charity of your choice.

We are comforted in knowing Donna will be able to greet her loved ones by name once again.
