PRIEST RIVER — The Lady Spartans fell 71-15 to the mighty Timberlake Tigers at the Battle of the Buck here Jan. 13. Priest River’s outmatched players came out with intensity from the opening minutes of the game, but were unable to put up points or stop the Timberlake onslaught en route to a 31-2 deficit midway through the second quarter. The young team, composed of starting juniors Jasmine Martin and Liann Kren, plus sophomores Adrie Minish, Chelsea Brown, and Karah Fink, were gassed as the Tigers ran fast breaks and a press against the Spartans during the first half. Minish scored Priest River’s first points 1:30 into the second quarter. The Tigers played at a totally different level on both offense and defense, with near-flawless execution of free throw attempts, passes, and steals. The Spartans took few shots on offense throughout the game. The Spartans went to the locker room down 45-4, and following the half the Tigers put in some players from the bench. Fink led the Spartans with eight points.

Against Newport Jan. 10, the Spartans fell behind 30-11 at the half and lost 56-23. Kren and Martin led the Spartans with eight points each.
