Lady Spartans close regular season with 40-24 win over NICS Royals

PRIEST RIVER — Priest River lost a close one to Kellogg Jan. 30, 58-54. Head coach Christina Leonard said, “This was an exciting game. They kept the crowd on their toes. The new offense really came together for them.” Karah Fink led the way with 16 points, 14 rebounds, three steals and two assists. Liann Kren scored nine while also grabbing four rebounds and dishing three assists. Jasmine Martin notched 14 points and three steals. Shayla Martinez put up 10 points and nabbed one steal, and Adrie Minish contributed five points, three rebounds, and two steals. Leonard added, “They made a total of 27 rebounds and 12 steals. They played a very aggressive defense. They really put down their shots. This was a total team effort. I am very proud of these girls.”

On Feb. 1, the Lady Spartans won their final game of the regular season by beating North Idaho Christian 40-24. Martinez led the Spartans with 19 points, four rebounds, four steals, and an assist. Fink put up 12 points, six rebounds, and three steals. Jordan Martin was big on the boards with eight rebounds, plus two assists and two points. Minish scored six points, made five rebounds, and made two steals. Maddy Rusho picked up five rebounds and two points. Kren contributed five rebounds, two assists, and two points while teammate Jasmine Martin robbed NICS three times, put up two points, and grabed two boards.

Leonard said the Spartans made a total of 38 rebounds and 13 steals in the victory. “We played a very aggressive defense,” she said, adding that “They have really improved in their game.”
